Hodson's Horse was a unit of loyalist Indian cavalry raised by Brevet Major William Stephen Raikes Hodson during the Indian rising of 1857. Depicted here engaging rebel cavalry, their distinctive uniforms of scarlet turbans and beige tunics are clearly evident.
