A convoy of tank transporters carries Sherman tanks of 3rd/4th County of London Yeomanry along a road in Normandy. Tank transporters had two roles. They could be used as tank carriers for moving vehicles long distances in order to avoid wear and tear to tracks and engines prior to battle deployment, or as recovery transporters for damaged vehicles.
