Lieutenant-General (later General) Sir George Brown (1790-1865) and his staff, which include Major Edmund G Hallewell, 28th (The North Gloucestershire) Regiment of Foot; Colonel Studholme Brownrigg, Captain Richard L O Pearson and Captain Arthur E V Ponsonby, 1st (or Grenadier) Regiment of Foot Guards; Colonel James Talbot Airey and Captain William Thomas Markham, Coldstream Guards. Even on active service in the Crimea, Brown liked to see his staff in frock coats and cocked hats.
