South East view St. James's Church Delhi.

Watercolour by Ghulam Ali Khan, 1827.

The church was built between 1826 and 1836 by the Anglo-Indian soldier James Skinner (1778-1841). Legend has it that Skinner, lying wounded on a battlefield, vowed to build a church if he survived. He subsequently donated 95,000 rupees to the construction of the church which was designed by Major Robert Smith.
