The 43rd Erinpura Regiment were formed in 1903 when the Erinpoorah Irregular Force (raised in 1860) were integrated into the Indian Army. Erinpura is in modern day Rajasthan. The 44th Merwara Infantry were established the same year with the redesignation of the Mhairwara Battalion. It recruited from the Mewars from southern Rajasthan. The 108th were also founded in 1903, having formerly been the 8th Bombay Infantry.
